Sometimes, you don’t need to physically force a vehicle to stop-you just need to grab the driver’s attention. Our Modular Rumble Strips are designed to do exactly that.

These low-profile bars create a distinct auditory and vibrational alert when driven over. The resulting “rumble” noise and vibration travel through the vehicle’s tires and suspension, instantly alerting the driver to an upcoming hazard, a speed reduction zone, or a pedestrian crossing.

Measuring just 20mm in height, they are non-aggressive. They won’t damage low vehicles or disrupt heavy truck loads, but they are impossible to ignore. Finished in high-contrast Black and Yellow, they serve as a clear visual warning system for warehouses, driveways, and distribution centres.

Enhanced Driver Awareness

This is a sensory warning system. By stimulating both sight (high-vis) and touch/sound (vibration), the Rumble Strip is the most effective way to snap a distracted driver out of “autopilot” before they reach a critical danger zone like a gate or intersection.

Low-Profile Design (20mm)

Unlike a 50mm speed hump which requires slowing to a crawl, the 20mm profile of this strip allows traffic to pass over smoothly while still receiving the warning. This makes it ideal for areas where you want to maintain traffic flow but increase caution.

Modular & Easy to Install

The 1000mm lengths are easy to handle and can be installed in a single line or in a “series” (multiple strips spaced 500mm apart) to create a prolonged rumble effect.

What is the main purpose of a rumble strip?

Rumble strips provide an instant tactile (vibration) and audible (rumbling) warning to drivers. They are designed to jolt a distracted driver’s attention, physically alerting them to slow down before they reach a pedestrian crossing, a blind intersection, a weighbridge, or a hazard zone.

Can these withstand heavy trucks and forklifts?

Yes. These warning bars are manufactured from heavy-duty, impact-resistant materials specifically engineered to handle the massive weight and constant traffic of commercial trucks, B-doubles, and solid-tyre forklifts without cracking or flattening.

How many strips should I install together?

For maximum effectiveness, rumble strips are rarely installed as a single bar. We highly recommend installing them in groupings of 3 to 5 bars, spaced roughly 300mm to 500mm apart. This ensures the vehicle’s tires hit multiple strips in rapid succession, guaranteeing the driver feels and hears the alert.

How are they installed on site?

The 1000mm strips are designed for fast surface mounting. They feature pre-moulded mounting holes, allowing you to bolt them securely directly into cured concrete or asphalt using heavy-duty masonry anchors or road spikes.

Are they visible at night or in low-light warehouses?

Absolutely. They are manufactured in high-visibility safety yellow (or alternating safety colours) to ensure they act as a strong visual warning line long before the vehicle’s tires even make contact.

Can forklifts drive over this Rumble Strip?

Yes. Because the RS100BY is only 20mm high, it is safe for forklifts and reach trucks to cross. It will provide a noticeable vibration to the operator, which is excellent for waking them up at blind intersections, but it is unlikely to destabilize a load like a large speed hump would.

What is the difference between a Rumble Strip and a Speed Hump?

A Speed Hump is a physical barrier (usually 50-75mm high) designed to force a vehicle to slow down physically. A Rumble Strip is much lower (20mm) and is designed to create a noise/vibration to warn the driver to slow down voluntarily.

How do I install the RS100BY Rumble Strip?

The Rumble Strip is typically surface mounted to concrete or asphalt using screws and masonry plugs or dynabolts. For maximum effectiveness, we recommend installing them in a series (e.g., 3 to 5 strips spaced 300-500mm apart) to create a “rumble zone.”
